Is the C1 steering wheel a solid color or was it painted the proper color to match the interior? If so, what color was underneath? For example, if I had a blue steering wheel and cut it in half, would the cross section be all blue or some other color with blue painted on the outside. Thanks in advance for any input.

I believe the wheels were molded from solid color type plastic compound.

I do not know how the professionals restore the wheels. I took a red wheel and ground out all the cracks. Patched it with a epoxy filler, sanded smooth, primed and painted with epoxy paint. Color was changed from red to Shoreline Beige to match the interior. Final coat was applied on the dry side to get a little "grain" look. That was twelve years ago and it has held up very well. The car has received several top flight awards with no deductions for the color change, and it looks much better than the repros.
