Not saying it is or isn't - Could be... I remember a number of GM components popping up here and there on jeeps back in the 70s AMC era.

              Kevin-----

The GM #3835665 oil cap has VERY wide application. Its use dates back to 1958 and, likely, even prior to that time. Its one of those parts with an "out-of-sequence" part number (like 53-55 6 cylinder blocks, heads, etc.). It's applicable to many 6 cylinder applications, including 1953-55 Corvette, although I don't think that it was the PRODUCTION oil cap used for those applications. It's also the SERVICE oil cap for 65-67 Corvette big blocks and many other 65-69 big blocks which didn't use chrome filler caps. For Corvettes, it was the SERVICE replacement for the GM #3856959 PRODUCTION-only cap that I discussed recently in another thread. It was also used for many non-GM applications, including the Jeep application that clem mentioned. It was discontinued in May, 1976 and replaced by GM #850843.

The configuration of the 3835665 may have changed slightly over the years. Can you post or send me a digital pix? If not, a description might be helpful.
