Well, it seem as if the old saying is still true that "You cant please everyone". We in the Carolinas Chapter decided to try to have a special dinner at DEI (Dale Earnhardt Inc.) outside of the normal NCRS channels. Dinner for 200 people would have cost $5000 just for set up charge (plus dinner) so we opted for the Trophy Room at DEI. Unfortunately, we were limited to 100 people as that is the normal capacity of that room. The original price started at $100, but we negotiated the dinner to $68. The $2 per person profit will go to purchase dinner for our speaker and his spouse, M/M Randy Earnhardt. When we discussed how to do registrations for this event we decided to keep it separate from the meet registration as it is not offically a part of the regional. We were concerned about the different delivery times of the Driveline so we opted for 2 delivery methods. 1. I sent a notice to every Chapter and every current NCRS person I have on my AOL address book. 2. We also decided to post the information on the NCRS DB even though it was not designed to disperse information to the NCRS membership. These were done about the same time two weeks ago. No matter how we did it we were sure to have unequal notice times. We think we made the right choice.
Now to the problem created with more than 100 wanting to attend. We are working on a couple of options. 1. Lunch / behind the scenes tours or just tours at DEI on Thursday or Friday. 2. Expanding past the 100 capacity of the Trophy Room. We will let those who have expressed interest but not on the first 100 to register know what we have been able to work out, if anything. Please stand by for more information.
