Re: You're right about the Moser.

OK I've got a small picture of a Moser in front of me - the valve, er cam covers have two large distinct humps running the full length suggesting DOHC but there is a single large sprocket suggesting SOHC - If you really want - I could scan it in. The caption (from teh back of an old 'How to Hot Rod SBs' book) says "Moser overhead cammed small block Chevy as featured in August, 1971 issue of Hotrod Magazine"

I have to say between teh heads, the valve covers and the 8 individual air horns - there's not much left of the block - it's literally dwarfed. I suspect this would simply not easily package in a lot of cars even if they could accomodate a rat motor.

Re: You're right about the Moser.

The Moser conversion was a kit dreamed up by Richard Moser and partnered with Harvey Crane of Crane cams. Richard was a former Chrysler cam designer. The DOHC kit was designed was designed to bolt to any standard small block Chevy. It featured two exhaust ports per cylinder.

Re: RATS Only, No Mice Allowed.

------I posted once about this and it seems to have been removed somehow. It was a completely benign post,so Im somewhat mystified. Oh well!
------Dick W is on the right track.Take a close look at the water-pump as it is very similar if not exactly the same as a 348/409 water-pump. The mystery motors were based on the 409 block very early on and the front casting of the motor where the water-pump is,is the same. Dont know about the heads or the cool induction set-up but Im relatively sure about the blocks origins.........Bill S
