    T Q Front Spindle Inspection Marks

    It has been a long standing debate here, (my Shop);
    The Quanta detail instructions, (allowing for this companies inaccuracies) clearly shows the spindle painted, (dipped) orange on BOTH ENDS
    The JG is unclear
    Opinions regarding these marks would be appreciated before I complete the front suspension assembly
    Thank You

    Jerry,
    I have a picture of an original 67 spindle which I think shows both ends being orange. There's a lot of rust present but it looks like there's paint on both ends. I'll email you the picture tomorrow.

      When I degreased the front end on my early 67 the orange paint was evident as a 6 to 8 inch smear halfway between the ends as though it was slapped with a paint brush. Both sides looked about the same. No evidence of dipping at each end.

          Thank you all;
          I have already painted both ends as I have in the past, I sent out some "pick it apart" pictures and the jury was out on which way was correct

            This photo is of my 1966 front spindle assembly. It's pretty easy to see the extent of orange paint coverage on the bottom (appears to be dipped). Only remnants remain on the upper part, but orange paint can be seen.

                No pic - try removing the question mark after ".jpg" in the URL.

                    Your first post picture worked fine for me?

                      Orange inspection paint marks are also found on early C3 spindles.

                      I could be wrong, but I doubt they were dipped. Mine were large, irregular marks that were painted, more like daubed with like a 1" diameter round brush, and only to the center portion of the spindle. There were also smaller "white" crayon inspection marks on each end where the ball joint studs were installed.

                        Jerry,
                        Here is a photo of my 1966. There is red smeared over the lower 1/3, and white on the bottem end! Others are available if you are interested.
