I just purchased a 1970-71 hood to replace mine. Other than re-drilling the 454 mounting holes to place the 427 numbers, are there any problems? I plan on using the repro fittings for the 69 hood. Thanks guys, great forum.

Re: 1969 Big Block Hood

If you use the 1970-71 hood, then you will have to use the VERY late 1969 through 1976 upper hood latches (GM #3966627, 3966628), cross cable (GM #3966626) and lower lock bolts (GM #3966625). All of the aforementioned are discontinued except the coss cable. The bolts are reproduced; the upper latches are not. For you to have these parts originally on your car, you would need to have a VERY late 1969 Corvette, built after about October, 1, 1969)
You MAY also need to use the late 69 through 1976 LOWER RIGHT hood bracket, GM #3966624, aslo discontinued.
I don't know what you're referring to regarding "repro hood fittings", so I can comment on that.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1969 Big Block Hood
Thanks. I have an early (APR 07 #21089) coupe with white cross cable. Guess I will get rid of the nice 70/71 hood and keep looking.- Top
