My early '61 has the incorrect engine. The casting # is 3756519, the casting date has a casting flaw and can only read the last digit which is 0 and the assembly ID is F010IE. If I want to have this judged, should I keep the current block or replace? If I replace, would a restamped block gain any more points than what I currently have?

Re: C1 engine ID
this block with non-61 vet suffix and apparantly lacking the vin # of your vet, will be in for a 50 point deduct if the casting date is approprioate for your early vin vet. the judges may or may not deduct the 38 points asigned for broach marks. if you find an over the counter 519 case with no stamping on pad and then have it stamped appropriatly for your vet, then you'll probably not loose any points. however, the chances of finding a virgin pad 519 with good cast date are mighty slim. most folks in your shoes find a pass car 519, remove the pass car machine assembly data, make an attempt at returning horizontal broach marks to the pass car case, then stamp vets vin and the appropriate machine assemb. data. most experienced judges will pick up on the attempt at horiz broach marks as not being identical to those of orig engine and you'll be out the 38 points for the pad surface(broach marks). good luck, mike- Top
