C2: Part number for 1966 STV valve?

I recently purchased a NOS stv valve that I'm hoping is correct for a '66 AC car. It's a Frigidare unit in the box, PN#5910498. Is this correct? Thanks in advance.

    Dan-----

Yes, it is. That's the correct SERVICE part number for the 1966-only ST valve. It differs from the PRODUCTION part number for the valve of GM #5910471. That's because the SERVICE valve usually included the valve, plus a few other items. So, the part number on the box was different than the PRODUCTION valve-only part number. The valves, themselves, should be the same.

      Joe, so why does...

Noland Adams book reference part number 5910490 as the PN for the 1964 Corvette AC compressor unit? In other words, how did the NOS service replacement part referenced earlier in this thread (PN 5910498), get a part number only 8 digets off of the 1964 compressor PN 5910490?

As always, thanks for the education.

        Dan------

Well, such things can happen; there's no guarantee that part numbers will be "sequential". In this case, though, the reason is understandable if one understands a little more about this part. While the GM #4910498 ST valve was used for 1966-only AS FAR AS CORVETTES ARE CONCERNED, it did have ONE other application-----1964 Chevrolet passenger cars with a/c. The 64 passenger car application was the FIRST use of this valve and that's the reason for the "connection" with the 64 compressor part number which, incidenatlly, was used on both passenger cars and Corvettes. The 1966 Corvette with a/c was the SECOND (and, LAST) use of this valve. Now you know "the rest of the story".
