How should a manual LH side mirror be attached to the door on a 1970? Mine had two sheet metal screws in the fibreglass. I would think that it should be two bolts with nuts on them. Thanks for the help.

The mirror BRACKET is attached to the door with 2 phillips head machine screws which thread into a tapping plate on the underside of the fiberglass. The mirror is then attached to the bracket by a single screw. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: C3 Mirror
I have a 68 that I'm having some challanges on getting the mirrors secured to properly.
There should be a mounting plate behind the fiberglass on the inside of the door that the mirror mount is secured to (at least on 68's, and only on the driver's side as passenger mirrors were not offered in that year).
I've used some anchors (there are many kinds I know, I used a small plastic anchor, like the kind that are commonly used in automotive, and some small metal "bell shaped" or bullet shaped ones also that expand when the screw is inserted) that have worked OK.
But, I will be taking the doors panels down to make up some mounting plates, tapped with holes to receive a machined countersunk screw this winter to get the best attachement possible.
I intend to use a small amount of epoxy adhesive to intially hold the plate in place until the mirror mount screws are inserted and tightened.

Re: C3 Mirror
As a quick and dirty installation, you can use the rubber insert nuts as was used on mid year voltage regulators. I believe that they are Well nuts. You can drill the door, install the nuts, use the oem style mounting bracket, and install the mirror. Takes all of about 15 minutes. Paragon sells them, 2015 and 2017K for the bracket and installation kit. I think that they are about $13.00 for the two.Dick Whittington- Top
