    Intake numbers

My '64 327/300 should have intake #'s 3844459 stamped on it. However it reads
3 44459 with no sign of filing or grinding off of the "8". Does anyone know where my 8 went. Thanks for helping,
    Randy

    Randy-----

It likely fell out of the mold before the sand core was produced. It's the sort of thing that could happen at the foundry. Even if an inspector noticed it, they likely wouldn't scrap the part over such a thing. They'd just ship the casting to Flint for machining. The label on the bin of castings that were shipped would have the correct number and that's all that really mattered to Flint.
