    Jon,
    Mineral spirits will not touch tha black lacquer that was used at the factory for the body blackout. Lacquer thinner is still a good bet for removing it, but since you will need to put most of the blackout back, don't get too anal about removing it all.

      John,
      This is probably cheap black enamel (wal-mart) that someone used to spray the entire bottom to make it all black. Would you still use the lacquer thinner or mineral spirits?

        Jon,
        Yes, Lacquer thinner still would be the best option. Mineral spirits would do little to remove any paint after it has cured. It is only effective on cuttting uncured enamel paint.
