I have a 1957 "basket case" that I am working on.
In reviewing the 1957 AIM or in most cases for any year AIM, you can find the GM / Chevrolet part number for an item but NOT the "common name / description" for that item.
Meaning, you can find GM part numbers for nuts, bolts, washers, lock wahers, etc. But what does that GM part number translate into from a common name standpoint. As an example, say a GM part number for a bolt is found, but what is it? Is it a Grade 8, SAE thread, 5/8 inch diameter, 1 inch long or what?
Does any one know where or how you can find a cross-reference or translation table for all of the various GM part numbers for hardware that is required to put your Corvette back together? Let alone making sure that the correct bolt is used in some critical location.
Please advise
Thanks
