C2-3 Rear spindles

Can anyone tell me the thread size and pitch for the castleated nut on the rear spindles? 3/4nf?

It's an "oddball" thread size of 3/4-20. Dies are available for it, though. Most of the Corvette vendors sell a tap and die set which includes the 3/4-20.

Frank, I believe that you will find it the same thread as the front spindle. Several vendors list a die for it (usually cheaper) than a die for the rear spindle.

It is the same as the front spindle nut as long as you're talking about the front spindle nut for a 1953-68 Corvette. In 1969, the size of the front spindle nut changed to another "oddball" size----27/32-20". Chevrolet did that "just to keep things interesting".

Thanks guys, Can you tell me what vendor would have that die? Ecklers & Corvette Central list a Corvette popular thread chaser set with 4 die's and two double ended taps. Would that include the spindle die of which we speak?

Those sets likely include the die you need. However, I know that the set that is sold by Van Steel has the one you need. If the tool set is all that you're going to be ordering, you might just want to get the set from them. "Dial them up" at www.vansteel.com
