    C1 steering column

Does anyone have the dimensions of the early and late C1 steering columns? I have a column that I was going to sell to a friend for his 59 when he came down ths weekend, but while cleaning it up, I found tht it appears that the original paint on the coumn was white and went all the way to the box. This would seem to indicate that this is an early column, but it sure would be nice to be able to check the length of it to know for sure. Any one who has their colunm out where they can measure it, sure would be appreciated.

    Regards, John McGraw

What is the length of yours? It could have been painted.

        Thanks Roy,
Is that the length of the mast jacket from the end to the top of the steering box?

        Thanks, John McGraw

            Thanks Roy,
It looks like I have an early model column.

              C1 column length

              John,

I have the column out of my 57, Do you still need length or are you OK now? I can dig it out and measure for you if you wish, no problem. Terry Plata

                Thanks Terry,
It is pretty apparent at this point that my column is in fact an early model column as it measures 48 3/4" long.

                  Hi John,

Just got back in from the shop and read your response. I tripped over my column and measured it anyway, 48 3/4 exactly! My car would be a '57 built in probably late '57 or verrrry early '57. Terry Plata
