    C2

I purchased at auction a motor which I was told came out of a Corvette. The only numbers that I came up with are as follows:

F03I0H0 RF of block at head

GM3782870 LR of block above bellhousing

C 9 5 RR of block above bellhousing

    H23 870

S 852 back of block inside bellhousing to the R of the crank
Any info that I could get would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This particular engine block did originally reside in a Corvette. It came out of a 1965 Corvette equipped with base 327/250 hp engine and Powerglide automatic transmission. All the numbers that you provided "fit" this original usage.

        Steve,
If this was out of a vette it would also have to have a vin stamping next to the build stamp. You do not list one in your posting.

Re: C2 - RF, LR, RR

The RF is his indication it was "Right Front". Notice he used LR and RR in there, too.

          Left Rear and Right Rear

Re: C2 - RF, LR, RR

Everyone has just been too much on the kick of stamps, restamps, phoney stamps, and nutty stamps lately.

My first thought was someone was really pulling a hokey restamp with that RF on the end, too, then I noticed the LR and RR in the next lines.

VIN stamp should be there. It definately indicates a Saginaw block, unless the cast date was doctored. It will also have the large numerals (about 3/4" tall) for the "3782870", and the small pipe plug near the water pump.

It seems improbable that somebody would make up a 250HP/Powerglide block, but anything is possible.
