    C1 Driveshaft (Texture?)

I'm in the throws of sandblasting anything that gets near me (haven't seen my wife for a while). The most recent item is a driveshaft that was suppose to be from a '60 vette. After uncovering layers of mud, grease, road-tar and rust, I've found an interesting pattern (texture) at the metal's surface. Does anyone know if C1's had a texture to the driveshaft? ...I hope they did, this pattern is pretty neat! Thanks for your help...

    Tom,
Every C1 driveshaft that I have ever seen was dead smooth and the ends had the Spicer name cast into the ends.

      John and Tom----

I would expect them to be very smooth, too. The tube section of these C1 driveshafts was extruded tube which was neither sand blasted nor shot-peened. Extruded tube is quite smooth.

        Tom,

My '60 driveshaft had a texture too - it's called pitting and its caused by rust. I sand blasted and painted it and its still not as smooth as it was new.
