    C1 1959 Thermostate

I've just replaced my water pump but I don't know where to position the delivered thermostate (160 degrees) ? Where should the thermostate be positioned ?

    greetings,

The "clock position" of the thermostat in the manifold makes no difference, at all. You can install it in any position.

        Re: C1 1959 Thermostate

Is the thermostate housing the metal part (with the two bolts) on top of the engine which connects the upper hose to the radiator ?

        greetings,
        Rob.

              160˚ sounds a little cold...

I've always though these run better with a 190Ú.

I've red in the 1953 - 1962 Corvette Service Manual that the needed thermostate depends on the additive you mix through your cooling water.

160 degrees is needed with alcoholic based antifreeze
170 degrees when permanent antifreeze is needed
