Congratulations. I thought I had a success brewing on my '57 when I found a previous owners name written on the bottom of the fuel tank cover panel. It read "Bought by Robert XXXXXX Dallas, Texas May 17, 1962". Well as luck would have it he was in the phone book, still lives in Dallas, still owns a Corvette (1968) and was willing to talk about the car. Everything sounded great until we got to the details like color, options, etc. It seems his car had a radio and was black. Mine never had a radio and is venitian red. Currently stripping the car and it has NEVER been black, venitian red and beige all the way down to the 'glass. BUT, the fuel tank cover and left rear fender....they were black under the red. Major disapointment on both sides!!!! Turns out his black '57, which he sold in 1968 on his way to Viet Nam, must have been a parts donor for my car. His fine ride was apparently a junk yard casualty sometime after 1968. Oh well, fun talking to the guy anyway.

I've only made modest attempts at this myself as mine originated (or passed thru) a state that didn't issue titles and doesn't keep much in the way of records. But I enjoy reading stories like this. Thanks.
