    Part # for center cap

I have someone trying to sell me a set of NOS center caps for my 67 rally wheels. They have given me the following part numbers: the disc #3901712 group 5.858 and the center cap #3908762 group 5.871. Did this come as a 2 piece unit? Can anyone verify the numbers? What is the real value? Thanks

      Chris----

Yes, these hub caps are supplied as a 2 piece unit although reproductions are available which are supplied as a complete, assembled unit.

The GM #3901715 is the original part number for the hub cap assembly, less the ornament. It's still available from GM for a current list price of $52.61/each.

The GM #3908762 center ornament is a SERVICE replacement ornament which has been used by GM for about the last 20 years, or so. It was also used for other 1967+ PRODUCTION applications but not Corvette. I believe that this is the one that lacks the "disc brakes" inscription on the face and simply says "Chevrolet Motor Division". It's still available from GM, though, for a current list price of $42.50/each.

As far as value goes, obviously the fact that both pieces are still available from GM limits their value to no more than the total of the GM list prices (although folks on eBay might pay more). So, that would mean that a set of both caps and ornaments would be worth $380.44 ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM. In truth, they could be purchased for a LOT less through competitive GM dealers and in reproduction. In fact, excellent reproductions of the original ornaments are available.
