I understand that the clutch fork originally had engine paint overspray from the factory. (I assume that is because it was installed in the bellhousing during painting). Does the rubber boot have overspray or was it installed after painting?

The rubber boot was installed at St. Louis so no engine paint should appear on it. By the way, not all of these boots are the same. The original boot used for 1967s, GM #3844208, is configured differently than the current SERVICE boot available from GM (and sold by most, if not all, of the Corvette parts suppliers). The "bellows" section of the original boot was slightly shorter than the current boot. As far as I know, the original boot is not available in reproduction. For research purposes, I purchased an NOS example recently and I paid DEARLY for it [not for sale].In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
