The silicone fluid I used in two of my cars was a purple color when first poured into the master cylinder. It has lost this color through the years and is resembles the color of most brake fluids when new. If you have some regular brake fluid at home put some on your finger and rub it with your thumb. Now test the brake fluid in question to determine if it is the same. I am sure there are other tests, real brake fluid will ruin your cars paint, silicone will not destroy it like regular brake fluid.
Jim has given you good information. Another test is to take a small jar or test tube and fill it 1/2 way with water. Now add some of the brake fluid in question and shake it up in an effort to get it will mix with the water. If it is silicone it will not mix.
