    Judging Classes

What is all the discussion about? If you want to modify your Corvette with paint, wheels, engines, etc and have your car judged why not enter it into Show & Shine Shows. There you can enter it as Stock or Modified. There you don't have to worry about stamp pads etc.

    Re: Judging Classes

I am a relatively new member to the NCRS Family, #36314. I have attended and participated in one WNY Chapter judging meet and two tech. Sessions and plan on attending as many as possible.

I have been following the recent post on judging and I am confused on some of the issues that have been discussed. It has been my understanding since the first day that I joined this organization that if I choose to have my Corvettes judged, that the criteria would be as the car was built by GM and prepped by the dealer with no dealer additions.

If through the restoration process I used restoration parts that did not meet GM standards or markings at time of car build that I could receive point deductions. As point deductions increased the classification my car received would be lower against the standards.

I am lucky to have purchased two cars with matching numbers, but I have had other problems that needed corrections. I choose to restore body panels and other parts that most likely will receive point deductions rather than replacing with aftermarket parts. This is my choice and I will live with the results. If I had purchased a car with a non-matching numbers and attempted to restore or recreate the number pads, unless it appeared the same as GM numbers and broach marks under any type of scrutiny this would be a product different than the one delivered to the dealer and receive the appropriate point deduction.

The high judging standards and judging methods (new or old) set by the NCRS family is one reason many people try and purchase a Corvette judged by the NCRS. To lower or compromise this standard, by not using any legitimate method to determine authenticity and correctness would be a disservice to the NCRS, all its members.

I thank all that have helped me to make this an organization that I am proud to be a member and thanks for all the great advice and help in my restoration efforts!!

        Re: Judging Classes

I, too am new member...so new that I'm waiting for my membership number to arrive in the mail. I, too joined because I agree with the NCRS judging standards and methodologies. If I didn't agree, I would follow the steps necessary to get a change. Local car shows are fun, but I like the concept and challenges the NCRS puts forth. Even more important, I find the willingness of judges to help people meet the criteria to be a real asset. I haven't found any, not a judge, that is trying to hinder anyone in meeting the criteria.

NCRS, keep up the good work. And, I thank each and every judge I've met or talked with...you are the people that make this organization great.

Now, back to the lurk mode.

          Newbies Unite!!

          Hi Ray,

Like you I'm a new member (#40411). I joined because I liked what I saw on this board. People with like minded intrests helping people with like minded intrests...Actually, it was some quick action taken by John Hinckly and a few others to contact Law enforcement agencies regarding a BOGUS 65/66 vert on eBay that sported a niffy vin tag from 66 Chevelle that pushed me over the edge.

I just had to become part of this club after witnessing that!

I've known about the NCRS since the early eighties and considered joining when I bought my project, but didn't. I've learned many things from many fantastic people here on this board. I hope it survives.....

It rips my heart out to watch the idiots of recent weeks try to monopolize this discussion board and attack the basic premise of our organization.

I really wish they would all go catch a flyin' duck and start their own club somewhere else! They can write their own "standard" and create whatever awards they want to give their own cars!!

I like the NCRS just like it is and very much appreciate the time Roy and the Gang contribute to keep us the best automoblie organization on the planet!
