I did not look at the auction but I have heard of scams where someone will put something up for auction (SOMETHING THEY ONLY HAVE THE PICTURE OF). They put a buy it now price that makes you jump at it. You send the down payment and they run off with the down payment. You get nothing! Regards, Terry

This guy is a little odd. He seems to have been an ebayer for some time, all on the buy side. I think it is a lot of risk for only $1200, if he plans on the downpayment and run strategy. He is also offering to have inspections. Heck, Buy it and take a fligh over with your check. If the car and keys aren't waiting for you don't hand over the check. All you will have at risk is the Illinois.

                Re: EBAY suspect

I emailed him and he wanted $3000.00 now and he would start the process. Weird. I asked if I could come look at it and he won't respond? Weird? His/her ebay history is all one sided and for small items. Also, I don't think the pictures are recent because I don't think the weather would look like that in that area of the midwest this time of year. Probably a CRACK HEAD looking for some fast cash. Regards, Terry

This kinda stuff has gone on for a while on ebay. Just look at Harley Davidson motorcycles, ATV,s, etc. The buyer always wants a wire transfer of the down payment funds by Western Union. The car/bike/atv isn't available but your ability to loose your money is. I emailed him also, got one back with a european phone number to call. Like I would fall for that! If you want to read about this kinda thing, go to ebay and click Community, then message boards, then ebay motors. You will find lots of posts about this type of scam. If you really need to get rid of some money just send it to me. You will get the same result. Just kidding. GL

                      Fly in the ointment.

Here's part of it. After sending several emails which (which were not answered directly) I found that the seller and car are in the Netherlands. Total cost would include shipment, taxes and gawd knows what else. Darn..I needed another car too!

Gets worse the more info you find out. All the buying the guy did over the last two years said he was in Illinois. Go figure.

Let me know who the guy is, where he lives or what his phone number is and let me figure out if he really owns a Corvette...
