K06 Body Build Date Code for late '75??

I have a question concerning the body build date codes for 1975. I have S/N 438207, body build code K06, with a delivery date of 28 August 1975. Most parts are date coded June/July 1975. The Spec guide says that the cutoff was July '75 with the latest build code of 'J' (July). No mention is made of a 'K' code. What gives here???

I can't speak for 1975, but we had the same situation with 1968. Chevrolet's build records showed 1968 last production month of July (L). Fortunately, a couple of us early C3 nuts like to record VIN numbers and build dates (and a lot of other build information as well). We found quite a number of August (M) built 1968s. I wouldn't be surprised 1975 turns out to be a similar situation.

Steve At the regional in New Jersey in 2001 I judged a white 75 coupe with a k build so we know they made some 75's in August of 75. It also had one convertible door. Lyle

Steve, in my 1975 L-82 Survey that I have been doing since '98, I too have a few 1975s with body build dates with "K"(August '75). The White '75 Lyle mentioned is one of them. The cars are "several hundred" from the end, so I always thought production went to around the beginning of the second week of August. I once also saw a '76 Corvette needing a complete restoration, it was VIN # 00041 and had a body build date of "K14", which led me to believe '76 production started on that day(or MAYBE the day before).
