I Met Joe Lucia!

Hi All!

Just got back from Bloomington, and I'd like to thank all who came to the meeting at the NCRS booth.

I was privileged to spend a couple of hours with Joe Lucia discussing Corvettes and a few other things, and had an enjoyable time. If you ever get the chance to talk with him, he is as knowledgeable in person as he is on the Board.

Be sure to thanks him for all his expertise and dedication!

In fact, Joe picked up a few more rare NOS parts while he was there. He told me that once he buys them, they don't leave...

It WAS great meeting everyone that was there!!! Thanks. I'll say one thing, those three days at Bloomington and at Corvettes@Carlisle go by quicker than any other days of the year!!! Great time!!!

My first trip to Bloomington was "NIGHTMARE&q

I had hoped to meet you all but disaster struck, and it is not finished yet. Last Monday, the air compressor froze up on the 91 S10 Blaser, so I installed a new one, changed over to 134A, had great air, and then we decided to tow my friend's 66 roadster, and ride in "COOL" comfort. Right off the bat the Blaser was running a little hot, but thought nothing of it as we were pulling the trailer w/the 66. It got progressively worse and about half way there, the temp gage was reading between 240-250, or a wisker below the 260 red line. We stopped, for gas, and checked under the hood, and ralized the clutch bearings in the new compressor were about ready to go south, as metal dust was all over the place. BTW, we lost air (2 blown fuses) about 70 south of Cleveland. We are at the point of no return, so we decide to push forward, expecting the clutch to seize and snap the serpentine belt.

We pulled in to Bloomington, unloaded the 66, got a camp site to pitch our tents, go back to get the Blaser & trailer, start it up, smoke bellowing from under the hood. We knew what it was, so no big deal, we made it. One thing, I forgot to take the keys out of the ignition, had no spare, and promptly locked the doors. Got the gendarme with the slim jim, but because of electronic door locks, kad no luck, so we busted out the tail gate lock, opened the tail gate, retrieved the keys, but now the right window will not go down, and, makes the most awfull noise when trying to lower the window.

Sat. AM took the air compressor off, ate breakfast, found Auto Zone, only place in town that had an air compressor, put it on, forgot to put oil in it, so we never charged it. Got done around 11:30, cleaned up, and went shopping. If this was our only problem on the trip, I would have counted my blessings, but the worse was yet to come.

24 miles west of Indianapolis, cooked the rear end on the Blaser, unloaded the 66, towed the Blaser to a GM dealer in Crawfordville, flatbedded the trailer to the same place, stuffed everything of value in the 66, and drove home. Encountered rain about 30 miles from home, and the 66 leaking like water going through a screen. Yes, my friend bought a new windshield and rubber at the meet. We get to his house, park the 66 and jump in the 97 vette, and as soon as we hit the interstate to get to my house, the driver's mirror pops off. Now it's raining cats and dogs, window down, and he's holding the mirror so that the mirror doesn't scratch the paint. I didn't get in till 1:30 AM, and we left at 11:00 EST.

I still have to go back with a tow vehicle, get the Blaser on the trailer, and get it back home. The Dealer wants $1500.00 to fix it. If not for the trailer, and some other items left in the Blaser, I'd say "It's your's".

I also went to Bloomington for the first time and I can safely say that when compared to NCRS meets they have a long way to go. I did meet meet some good friends. For Blommington Gold and the happenings there, if you can't say anything good don't say anything so.......
