    Re: ZO6 package

    Bill,

The ZO-6 package was never available over the counter however there is some evidence that GM (Chevrolet) supplied some racers with the package thru the back door plan.

The ZO-6 package was rather expensive and was changed during the 63 year to drop the big tank and reduce the cost of the package. Some say it was dropped because of leaking and availability.

As you remember, the big tank was not on some 63 ZO-6 cars from the factory. It was available as an option and also showed up on some other Coupes without FI or HP options.

If you really want to know about ZO-6 options you might want to contact Eric Gill of Florida. Beside Mike Pillsbury (deceased) Eric is the ZO-6 guru. He wrote a series of articles in the "Restorer" several years ago that was most informative.

    Hope these few line help,

    JR

No parts book that I have shows it, but it

might have been in Chevy's "Performance Parts" catalog - I guess I'd doubt such a kit because a competent parts guy could find it all relatively easily.

        Re: ZO6 package

All the Z-06 parts were available over the counter through service parts, but
it was never available as a "kit".

The big tank was dropped from the second iteration Z-06 package (and retained as a stand alone option through '67), circa 2/63 because most racers did not compete in endurance events. Most SCCA races are sprints lasting no more than 20-30 minutes, and the standard 20 gallon fuel tank had sufficient capacity to complete a typical SCCA Regional or National race without refueling.

-------Thanks guys! I have unwittingly misled a bit. The question was referring only to the big brake aspect of the ZO6 package. But I think I have enough to answer the question over there correctly.........Bill S
