    '69 BB Timing Tab

In the 3rd edition TIM&JG for 68-69, on page 48 there is a photo and description of the timing tab. This looks nothing like the timing tab on my '69 big block. That ordinarily wouldn't bother me - I'd just try to find a correct one. However, I am being told by external sources that the tab shown and described is actually for a small block, and the tab I have (which is very different, and actually looks much like what Paragon is selling) may actually be correct. I don't have a photo of mine that I can post, but for now can anyone confirm whether or not the timing tab on pg. 48 was used on SB only or both SB and BB?

    Thanks,
    Jonstr #10673

My 68 L71 doesn't look like the book either. Mine is longer looking. It is still sloped at the top and straight at the bottom, but the vertical distance seems longer. Sorry, I haven't learned how to post a picture yet.

Yes - Paragon #1763 is the piece I was referring to. That is what the tab looks like also on my '69 L88.

          Jon-----

The picture on page 48 of the JG is of a small block timing tab. While it is not identified as such in the photo, it is not mistakenly identified as a big block tab, as far as I can see. The Paragon tab is about right.

Thanks Joe. You're correct - the TIM&JG does not specifically say what motors that timing tab was used on, which was why I asked. By not saying, it implies that it is used on all engines. I'm got my motor torn down at the moment, and I'm sure glad I asked before I replaced that tab and put it back together.
