    C2 Re-assembly Questions

My '64 roadster body is in final stages of re-assembly and, for the moment, I have two questions.
There are two 3/16" diameter holes in the passenger side of the transmission tunnel approximately 7" back from the firewall and 9" above the floor. There is no evidence that anything had been mounted there and I'm unable to find a reference in any of the parts manuals. What am I missing?
With the heater box in place there is a space between the outlet and the defroster duct. I find no reference to a connecting part. When I took the heater out there was a roughly formed piece of gasket material making only a partial connection. What belongs there?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I could be wrong here for your '64 but, for my '63 and if I have the area for the holes correct, they are for the screws and clips that holds the power window cable, that goes to the power window switches on the center console, down on the floor. You didn't state if you had power windows so, this answer could be all wrong if you don't!

Dunno about '64, but '65-up had the power window harness taped to the dash and floor on the way to the switches - no clips. There is no connecting part between the heater case and the defroster outlet duct - there is a gap between them by design to isolate them so noise and vibration from the heater case and blower motor doesn't transfer to the outlet duct and dash panel and get amplified by turning the fiberglass dash into a "drum-head".

64 PW haarness just like john described for the 65 up PW harness. by the way john , never knew why chevy had the gap between case and duct but makes perfect sense. thanks for insight, mike

Thanks very much, Gary, John and Mike.
I think that I'll put a single layer of glass over the PW Harness holes on the inside. The defroster separation makes sense but I can also understand what one of my predecessors was trying to do with the half-baked gasket material as a joint.
