    C1 SEAT SLIDERS

I am in the process of removing my seat sliders. The slider with the adjustment lever is attached with one clutch head bolt and a regular bolt. The other has two regular bolts. Is this correct? Does anyone know of a source for restoration of the sliders? Some of the brackets are loose and they are in need of plating. Thanks, Joe DeLuca #37862

      Joe...

Paragon has parts and restores seat sliders (adjusters). They are expensive so check them out first. The slides are attached to the seat using clutch head bolts.

        Joe,
Since your car is a 61, I would be surprised to see anything but a hex head cap screw that was black oxide in color holding the seat frames to the tracks. If memory serves me right, this fastener is a fine thread bolt and no one produces this bolt in the aftermarket. On my 60, one of mine was missing and I just put a fine thread grade 5 bolt in to replace it and treted it to a blackening treatment. It never took a deduct, but I would doubt that any judge could ever see them anyway with the seats installed!
The tracks are pretty easy to disassemble yourself and send the parts out for plating. There is a stop on each track that has to be bent out of the way so the inner track will slide out from inside the outer track. After this stop is bent out, you can just take a rubber or dead blow hammer and drive the inner track out. The clips that hold the chrome seat adjuster on the outer track will have to be opened up with a screwdriver so you can remove the handle after the tracks and the handle are plated, you can just close the loops down a little with a hammer after reinstalling the handle. As you drive the tracks apart there will come a section where some cut outs line up in the inner and outer tracks which will allow the rollers to come out. It is pretty simple and if you watch carefully as you take them apart, you will have no problem putting them
back together. Drop me an Email if you need any additional help.

John, Thanks for the help. I just took one apart. Should I have the rollers plated also or should I just clean them up? Thanks agian for your help. Joe DeLuca

            Joe,
The rollers were not plated. Just put a little grease on them and the slides when you put them back together.
