Did any of you know that you can machine down the stamp pad surface on a 427 .100 and slightly under the head, find a detroit diesel core with a large broached surface, stamp it cut it out machine the back side to .100 dowel pin it from the back side, trim the sides and you have a restoration pad, your comments.

For information. A good machinist can mill the deck , using a Bridgeport, and leave the pad alone. It is very tedious and time consuming, but it can and has been done. Had a 350 block "burned" between cylinders. Milled block .030, left pad intact. Don't ask. Unfortunately machinist is deceased. If he had not been the best friend I ever had, he would of not done this. Took almost two days.

just the same as milling out the bellhousing

flange casting number with a end mill in a bridgeport. then you machine the correct number to size from a bad block, press fit it into the milled out pocket and a little heavy paint and it looks correct and it will not wash off with a pressure washer like epoxy or silicone numbers. if there are people out there who can counterfit US currency there are people who can do the same with a chevy engine.
