    C1 59 Car trace

    Dear Corvette lovers,

I've been able to trace back the history of our Corvette one hop because GMDownUnder claims they bought our car from Pro Team Ohio. I've dropped them a few mails but they didn't respond on our enquiries about the previous owner(s). How sould I proceed to get more info on the history of our car (e.g. via the government of Ohio) or does anyone can ask them for us (if he/she is living nearby) ? Any suggestions are welcome.

It would be nice to talk to a real previous owner (instead of a car dealer, to exchange info on what happened to the car in its previous life)...

Due to privacy laws in most states, car dealers usually cannot release prior owner information. Its very likely that Pro Team never titled the car in Ohio. I am not sure of the law there but some states have a dealer registration that facilitates a pass through sale. However, there usually isn't any prior owner information since the car was never legally titled in the state.

You can give the state of Ohio a try, you might get lucky.

Maybe they don't want to tell you who the previous owner was. Ask them to at least tell you what state the car came from. They are based in Ohio but buy cars from all over the country. If you know the state where they got it from then you can contact the motor vehicle department in that state. There are forms you have to fill out to get information from the motor vehicle department. Some states are more helpful than others. My 1960 started out in North Carolina and they had all the records. You have a great website.

Very nice website, wonderfully told story of the rehabilitation of a lucky car. Keep up the good work, it makes me feel like a slacker (one who is lazy).
