    Is this a problem ???

There is a thread on another board which says that most antique insurance policies specifically exclude "car left unattended". I'm sure the purpose is to not insure cars left at the local WalMart parking lot against theft and such, BUT ... wouldn't it also included cars left on the judging field overnight ???

Are our cars UNINSURED while they are at judging meets???

At every Regional and National meet I've attended, the judging field is "secured" parking, both at night AND during the day. Chuck

Mike, I talked to my insurance company, and read my policy over closely. According to my insurer, as long as the car is at a show then there is no problem. I know also that here in Texas we have security for the show so that the cars are guarded all night long. They are also indoors.

If your not have your Corvette judged, just in a common parking lot, no NCRS protection. But if you enter the Sportsman Class, it's a NCRS "secured" parking lot. That is what Sportsman class is.

Some chapters do provide protection for ALL Corvettes driven to the meet. For our April Regional at Charlotte Motor Speedway, we are providing secure parking inside the track for those who do not need the cars to get to the motel. They do not have to be registered for any award or display. There is a charge for this listed on the registration form.

If you drive to a show and you go in to pay for gas you get on the way, it is unattended.

If you go in to eat on the way, it is unattended.

If you park in a gated hotel lot, it is unattended.

The only time it isn't is when you have someone right there watching it or it is in your own garage at the address on the insurance and the garage is locked.

There were a lot of unattended cars in the lots at Nashville and at the NCM for the 50th. There may have been parking attendents and they stood at the entrances to the parking, but they didn't watch your car and I could have climbed in any and drove off without question. The cars were unattended.

Think about that when you get insurance.

In this regard, are their any companies that will provide agreed value insurance on a car that is left "unattended"
