Identify alternator 1102473

Hi, can anybody by chance tell me what the application is for this alternator I have. Part number I think reads 1102473 or possibly 1102478. It is 55 amp. Date reads 8M04. It has the built in regulator and it is still good. I need to find a home for it. Thanks in advance, Terry

I can find no record of GM #1102473. However, GM #1102478 is a 55 amp alternator that was used on 1977 Buicks, 1977-79 Chevrolets (but, not Corvettes) and 1977-79 Pontiacs. Given the date code on this unit, which was never available in SERVICE, it must have originally resided on a 1979 Chevrolet or Pontiac. There's no way to tell what model of the aforementioned carlines but, as I say, it wasn't Corvette. It would have been any model using a 55 amp alternator, though, and only 2 different 55 amp alternators were used those years on those carlines----GM #1102478 and GM #1102479.
