    C-1 Hood Receiving Lip

    Hello all,
On our 1960, we received the front nose section that appears to be original for the years. However, the lip that runs along each side to receive the hood appears to be angled. I've seen a couple of 59's and 60's to believe this area should be flat (or 90 degrees) to the fender. The lip on our's does not appear to be tampered with but again, it does have quite an angle to it. The angle gets worse as it gets closer to the firewall. As this nose has been stored "off the car" for sometime, is it possible the stress of the fenders has affected this lip (if it's not suppose to be angled). Again, any suggestions would be helpful.
    Sincerely,
    Tom Spurgeon

I believe that 1958 to 1961 front ends are the same. My 61 has an angle to the fender lip. If you send me an email address I will take a picture and forward it to you.

Tom, my 59 is as you describe. The angle at the front is maybe 10-15 degrees but approaches 45 degrees at the rear.

          Re: same on 62

Tom, my 62 has the original nose and has the same angle as you describe. I wondered about the same thing a few years ago and have since found the same on many C1 cars.

            You Guys!!!

Thanks so much for the pictures Ray and everyone's feedback. You have no idea how close I was to taking my dremel and cutting the lip to reinstall it with no angle. You guys saved me some embarrassment and subsequent explaining!
            Respectfully,
            Tom

              Before Cutting

Thanks - Now I have another rule to add to "measure twice and cut once".
