    C-1 hood alingment

I have restored a 61 vette and can"t get the hood to line up at front with all three screws in on each side of hinge. it won"t go down far enough, if i use two on each side it will line up. The car has not been hit and all other bolts are lined up, there is no adjustments, the core support ,air intake, inner fender wells are pretty much set, with no play or adjustments, any one else had this problem or knows what to do: Thanks

Lee - Did the hood line up before you restored the car?

yes,the front dosent line up with the body, and i never had the hood on the car,i bought the car 30 years ago for parts, the old hood was burned, but no other damage, this hood came off the one i drove at that time,. this car sat in a garage until 2 years ago it only has 32,000 miles on it.i did have the body on and off the frame a few times. everything else lines up real nice.doors bumpers crome ect. its all orig. numbers matching car except the hood change.

Lee ! if you add a shim or shims, under the hood bolts toward the rear of the vett or as you have the hood open the top ones, that will pivot the hood line down.

            Lee,
I know this sounds elementary, but are you sure that you are not trying to bolt the hinges to the hood upside down? I have seen this happen before and the hood will sitck up quite a bit. The hinges should have the "L" hanging down with the hood attaching to the inside of the "L". They will bolt up with the hinges on the wrong side and the L inverted but will not go down low enough.

            Regards, John McGraw
