Outside door lock bezels

What color/finish should the outside door lock bezels be on a 59 C1? Mine were painted the car color, but I wonder if they should be polished stainless? The truck lock bezel is stainless on my car now. Thanks

Yes Polished stainless 56 till 62 doors and truck.Having a rubber gasket behind them.

My observation would be unpolished stainless steel with no rubber gasket. DC

Dennis is right the S/S was not a high polish , but pretty nice. and again he's right, 55-57 chevy used the rubber gaskets, but I did it to help keep water out and it works.Sorry I for got.

Dennis is correct. If you try to use the gaskets on a Corvette, it will be almost impossible to install the lock retainers! Almost every seal kit includes the seals, and a bunch of people have cussed for hours trying to use them. Also, the original lock bezels have a very distictive double ring on the face of the bezel that none of the Repro's have, and with a little effort, the bezels can be put on new repro cylinders if your originals are just worn out.
