'67 BB HEAT RISER WITH SIDE EXHAUST

Was a spacer used in place of the heat riser on original side exhaust cars?

My '67 with side pipes had the heat riser in '74. Possible it was changed, but I doubt it.

There is a "boss" on originals which is the full width of the part. On replacements this boss is only about half width. The boss has a roll pin pressed into it which accepts one end of the anti rattle spring, and the counterweight hits the pin at either end of the weight's rotation. To my knowledge only originals have the full width boss.
