Re: C1:58 door
Frank, I have a 58 which has taken four years to locate "58" unique parts. There aren't that many items but the doors are ONE. Find a correct 58 and save yourself other longer term problems so that you can use 58 door panels. For one, the spindles are a different length on the lock mech and placements are different than the 59-60. I think I have one correct lock mech somewhere if you need it. Think the same applies to the regulators but I really don't remember on this one (they should be a little longer). More than happy to share frustrations with you as you progress. Interested to know what kind of rear bumper brackets you have, do you have the under front fender reenforcements, do you have the fiberglass exhaust cones and what kind of covers in the trunk )fiberglass or metal plate)? Re: C1:58 door==coorection
Got myself mixed up a little? I cannot check right now but I think it the opening mech and not the lock mech. From what I vaguely remember, think the 59-60 spindles are about 7/8" long and the 58 spindles are about 1". Biggest problem is the placement on the door. It is different. Suspect the access panels might be different also. Will check back with you when I can get just a little free time! Bill- Top

Re: C1:58 door
56-58 window regulators are the same:59-62 are alike but different than the 56-58. All are the same length-the difference is where the bends are in the long arm. They are somewhat interchangeable, but not ideally.- Top

Re: C1:58 door
Thank you all for the information. It appears that the only correct solution is to purchase a 58 door with all 58 hardware. If anyone talks to santa, please tell him what I need and that I have been a good boy this year! Thanks- Top

Re: C1:58 door
Frank, it is the next day after several glasses of holiday wine tasting! Glad Mike responded on the regulator part. All look nearly identical until you have both era's in front of you. Lengths and mounting configuration appears exactly the same but the later era regulator arm has much more pronounced bends then the early models (or vice versus). Like Mike indicated I am sure either will work--maybe the sharper bends allow for better internal clearance. Oh, it is the lock mech which has a different length spline shaft--maybe insignificant but 58 IS the only year that used this one part number mech (looks exactly like all others but about an 1/8" longer). Suspect this was for door panel thickness? Sorry if I am mixing you up but it seems as I get older this happens more frequently. Bill- Top
