    1978 Corvette Floor Mats

Happy Holidays. I am hoping someone can help me with this question. I have a 1978 Corvette with the dark blue interior. I recently saw a set of NOS dark blue floor mats on ebay part number 995843 for a 1978 or 1979 corvette. My mats that I currently have in the car (I bought it 2 Years ago) are solid blue. The new mats are a dark blue and lighter blue mix? Are these correct for my car?

    Thanks.

Thanks. These do not to appear to be faded at all. They appear to have been made this way. Maybe someone who has an old GM book can reference the part number and tell me what year tese are for or what their application is.

          Roy...that be me!

ZN1 is the trailer package...VIN 11,115 was built the 29th of November 77 and no telling which anniversary car was first installed with red interior.

          So...what's my present Santa Claus?

TOM I owned the 78 serial number Corvette that I gave. I got it new right off the truck and had the dealer not touch it or prep it. At the time I talked to a representative of G.M to get them to install a red interior which at the time was not offered . I also had the trailer option ( by the way can be detected by looking to see that a added wind flap or rubber extent was added to the front lower air ram). Pop riveted on. Also the option tires which also had the front rear fenders cut back.. I sold the vett some years ago but the new owner was not interested in the items I had.
From the dealer I have the three large card board display on engine , paint, interior leather and cloth samples. The tags used for the turn signal, large cover on the sun visor and so on.I also have a new intermittent wiper unit the dealer sent me later because the factory didn't get them in time to install it. Also the trailer harness that came with the vett NEW also not installed. I have the original build sheet and window sticker dated 1977 Cost $ 12.838.21 . I just don't know what to do with this stuff and don't need it. If you or some one els can let me know. All is free but I would like to see some one that would wont or use them get it.

Per your question on the floor mats. A 1978 corvette with dark blue interior came with solid blue mats. Here is the part #996080 you are looking for. The first year for a corvette that left the factory with a carpeted floor mat was 1977. The floor mats that you saw on ebay were a 1977 mat. They are as rare as hen's teeth. Most 77 owners do not even know what they look like. These mats were muti-color with a checker board pattern and very unique looking. They woud catch your eye when looking at the interior of a corvette that has them in place. They were problems early on with the mats. The carpet inserts would separate from the rubber mat and an adhesive change was made in March of 77. On Oct. 28 1977, GM discountinued the 1977 "checker board" floor mats and refered you to a 1978 floor mat per your color interior. In 78 the corvette emblem was relocated to the upper half of the mat as a further improvement. Even though they were a RPO option when they were ordered on a new corvette NCRS doesn't judge the mats and makes you remove them from your car.
