    Holly carb identification

I just came across a carb Holly carb that I have never seen before. It looks like a Holly with no fuel bowls. I found the vent in the center of the carb and it appears that the fuel bowl is molded between the venturies. There is a gasket between the throttle plate and the main body unlike a carter or Qjet. The main body is one piece without any vertical gaskets, just two horizontal gaskets, one below the main body mounting the throttle plate to the main body and one above that mates the air horn to the main body. The secondaries are activated by a simple rod on the driverside and it does not seem to have a choke lock for the secondaries. The secondary shaft on the passenger side is not connected to anything. It was mounted on a spread bore manifold, but the primaries and secondaries are the same size, but they seem to be spaced further apart then usual. I know its a Holly only because the word HOLLY is molded into the top between the two secondaries. There does not seem to be any other numbers on it. It also fells very light.

I showed it to the local speed shop and they never saw one before either. Am I just not that old or just to young to have seen one of these.

    Tom-----

What you are describing sounds to me like a Holley Model 4011. This is an aftermarket-type, spread-bore replacement carburetor. This particualr carb, while generally "shaped" like a Holley, does not have seperate fuel bowls. Rather, the fuel bowls are integral with the air horn and body assembly. A square bore version of this carburetor is known as a Holley model 4010. I don't know if Holley still makes these carburetor models, or not.

        Joe,

It is not a 4010 or 4011. They have fuel bowls front and rear. This has a front and back that looks like the back of a 2010. It took a second look to figure were the fuel bowl was. By the location of the single vent tube centered on the carb, I figure all four barrels feed off one bowl that is between the venturies, and the float must be diamond shaped as the is no obvious square area. I will take a picture in the morning and try to find a place to post it.

As to Clems question, There is no list number that I can see on the front of the choke area. Is there another place that it can be?

        Thanks for the help

holley always stamps their carbs with a number somewhere. from your discription i would guess it is a 4360 series and the # should be on top above the fuel inlet

I think your the proud owner of a model 4360 holley. I think they were made during the early 70's gas shortage as a fuel efficient q-jet replacement. I don't think they sold many. "Economaster" trade name comes to mind?

              Clem & Frank,

It is a 4360. I found the list # on the bottom of the carberator. You had to turn it upside down to see it. The list was 7455 making it a model 4360 with a 450cfm rating. Now it goes with all the other thing that are not good enough to use but to good to throw away.

              Thanks
