1964 CORVETTE Roadster- I'm new member and looking for help, I know there was two different style doors used in 1964, one that had raised pads with serial number 15,000 and earlier and after March no pads, my question was the door locking mechanism different, purchased a new one for the driver door and the lever that hooks to door opening rod hits inside the door not allowing the wheel on the door latch to rotate. This car is prior to March and has raised door pads.
Thanks
The locking mechanism on coupes and converts from 1963 thru 1966 was the same I believe. The 67's were quite a bit different.
You say, I just purchased a new one. NOS new or new to you. These haven't been available in 30 years or more. Someone may have sold you one from a later model car.
I have interchanged the mechanisms among the earlier midyears with success. I can send you a pic of the mechanism if you wish. Are we working with a RH or LH?
