    C1 59: Radiator seals

    Colleague Restorers,

Just bought myself some radiator seals to install my new radiator properly. I'm just wondering what the correct procedure is to install the radiator using these seals (are they glued and if so what type of glue should be used). I've received 2 side seals, 1 bottum seal and some triangular top seals.

I also received the needed drain cock and rubber drain hose. The lower shroud (still to be paint prayed) with the needed bolts (no nuts). I still need the proper bolts and nuts for the upper shroud (which itself is still usable), which are diffecult to find over here (due to the non-metric measures).

I have to reuse the old upper hose since it seems almost impossible for me to get the right hose (I have a straight thermostat housing). The new lower hose seems to fit just fine.

    greetings and merry Chrismas,
    Rob Musquetier.

    Re: C1 59: Radiator seals

    Rob,
I just use 3M weatherstrip adhesive to glue the seals in place. I usually use the black adhesive for a neater look, but the factory did not care about such subtle nuances and just often slopped the yellow stuff all over the place.

    Regards, John McGraw

Rob - I believe the two triangular seals are placed at the bottom front corners of the radiator, glued to the radiator support. The other single seal goes at the bottom of the rad, glued to the support - it will touch each bottom corner seal. I agree with John on the glue issue. I may be wrong, but I don't believe your car uses any radiator side seals. (Check the Judging Guide and/or the AIM. Best, Dennis

        Dennis,

Indeed I've also got 2 side seals with 3 small holes in them. If not needed I leave them out...

        greetings,
        Rob.

Mikie, most of the barristers that I know prefer Wilkes County's finest brandies, apple or peach. And large quantities Judges have a taste for it too.
