    Coolant

I am draining the coolant in my 71 454. I think it holds about 6 gallons. I removed the plug in the radiator and only about 2 gallons drains out. Is there another plug? If not, what is the best way to get the remaining fluid out? Thanks, Jim

there is a plug on each side of the engine case, mid-way back each side, about 4 inches superior to the pan rail. heater core will also hold some coolant captive unless lowest heater hose disconnected from heater core. mike

Remove upper radiator hose to allow air in and start engine for a brief time. That will get a little more out, but Mike's suggestion about the block drain is the only way to get most of the liquid out of the engine. Removing the heater hoses at the intake and water pump will usually drain that liquid out.
Six gallons sounds like a lot to me, but the manuals are in cold storage so I can't check. Maybe someone else has an owner's manual handy and can look up the capacity.
