CI HOOD HINGES

Should the male and female hood locks, and the hood hinges on my 61 be painted or are they unpainted. Thanks as always, Joe DeLuca #37862.

Hood Hinges- They are gold cad plated not silver like repos, however the majority of the visable surface should be covered with blackout paint.

Rear Latches & Hood Lock- These parts are cad plated with a gold, rainbow hue. However, these hardware items were installed prior to exterior body paint and engine compartment blackout painting, and therefore may appear with paint overspray, in varying degrees, much of which may not have completely adhered to these lubricated parts.

agree with terry but would add that the coil springs on the male hood latchs are gloss black. mike

I agree with Terry, You need to buy the technical manual. The written word is a lot more reliable than most of us. Especially if you're really trying to restore the car correctly.
