I think we've been there before but I'll ask anyhow. Filled the tank this AM and find the gauge only goes to half full. Gauge or Sending unit malfuntion and where do we start? I know the test for a temperature sending unit is to ground the wiring lead and if the wiring and gauge are good the gauge will peg. Same thing work on a fuel sending unit? All help is appreciated as always. Bill #20328

Re: Midyear Fuel Gauge/Sending unit?
Well not exactly. Grounding the sender wire will deflect one way but you have to touch it to 12V to deflect the other. Make sure that you have the sender wire(tan) and not the 12V (pink) supply.- Top

Re: Midyear Fuel Gauge/Sending unit?
You can also just stick you hand and arm in the tank and operate the sending unit manually. This works great as long as you don't have too fat an arm!! You can see the guage work as you move the float this way.- Top
