Shouldn't the cam bolt go through more than just the bracket and the inner end of the strut rod? The bushings are inserted in the rod ends, but the assembly manual shows a "cap" number 3791519. Perhaps it's just a pair of washers, as that is what it looks like in the drawing. Corvette Central calls it a cap also, with their number = 582117. No such thing there when I took it apart, but (with this car) that means nothing... Thanks in advance. /td

Re: 1963 Strut rod cam bolt question
Tom----
There was a cap used on both sides of bushings as originally assembled and the cap was GM #3791519. This piece was discontinued MANY years ago and replaced by GM #348390 which remains available to this very day. How are they different? Well, the 3791519 is 1.18" OD and the 348390 is 1.31". The 348390 is the PRODUCTION piece used for 75-82 Corvettes which also used the larger 1-3/8" OD bushings. The 348390 functions perfectly, though, when used with the 63-74 style 1-1/4" bushings. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Cam bolt inner caps
That may help to explain why one of my cam bolts is slightly twisted. My car had no such caps for a long time. It also had one 427 style (drilled and tapped) trailing arm, which was a bit of a surprise. Thanks for the replies!https://MichiganNCRS.org
