Re: 59 suspension
Bob - You're going to have to help me with your terminology a little on some of your questions. If shakles are the U-bolts that fasten the rear end housing to the leaf springs, they are unpainted. Typically yellow paint will show up on top of the black rear end housing paint - the horizontal stripe on top and the circle around the fill plug. Explain radius rods to me, and I'll make a guess on them too. Best, Dennis- Top

Inspection marks.
Quanta has a kit to reproduce the inspection marks as well as possible. Remember they weren't pretty. The kit has illustrations for locations and the correct color paint.- Top

Re: 59 suspension
On my '62 I found inspection marks on the front tie rod tubes (yellow stripe around outer circumference) tie rod ends (blue dot), spindle supports (orange or yellow dot). These unpainted parts also had some blackout overspray. I also found green paint inspection marks on my brake drums and verticle yellow wax or chalk lines. I uncovered various other marks like the job number on the firewall and doors. The frame stencil, markings on the driveshaft, differential or rear springs were no longer visable on my car. I have comments relating to spring markings by Dale Pearman (archives search), if memory serves me correctly, he stated that the springs had a yellow inspection mark on the back of the spring behind the loop for the rear bushing. My understanding is that most of the frame and chassis inspection marks got "blacked out" in the final shot applied before body drop and after chassis assembly. Maybe someone else can verify or dispute this process.- Top
