    NOS insanity - link

I think I'll watch this just to see if anyone is actually this crazy. I wouldn't buy these tires if I won the lottery.

Tires of this vintage are dated and as these are in wrappers they are later tire store replacements and likely to have dates later than the car they are correct for. Whats so bad about $1700 each for a tire with the wrong date???? I hope any potential bidders check on the dates at least.

A very well know Vette owner/restorer offered $10,000 cash for 4 7:75X15 redlines. This was in 1987. Couldn't buy tires, so tried to buy car. No heresay, I was standing there.

i watched Roby Price, in the yards behind my shop, fork out 10k for 4 nos tires in the early 80's. I respected roby but that day i concluded he'd bumped his head the nite before.mike

              Re: Roby-Insane Not A Chance

Well, you don't have to look for the high NCRS numbers to tell some of these posters are new to this game. I've been there when Roby paid a hell of a lot more for a lot less. That's the way he played the game. If he wanted the parts, money did not stand in his way. He had the best toys in town! Wish he was still here spreading his kind of cheer around this Christmas.

Doc, it was Roby at the Osage Regional in '87 who made the offer. The guy thought he was crazy. He who dies with the most toys wins.

This reminds me of an old Mexican saying -

                  "Mas dinero que sesos"

                  translation: "More money than brains"

                        Re: maybe NCRS stands for

Clem, after restoring cars since the late '60's, Corvettes for 15 of those years, it is not limited to NCRS. $12,500 for rechroming 25 years ago (owner wanted to use same shop that did GM show car chrome) on a '57 Caddy. I actually found most Vette owners reasonable in their wishes.

But in my case NCRS stands Never Can Remember S..t
