63 Exhaust Brackets

I've seen in some instances where 63 340/360FI's do not have that unique center hanger (#3822588) that mounts right where the transmission rear mount is. Was this only used on the 2" exhuast and not the 2.5"? Same goes for the heat shields.

I have seen references to where the hangar was not used on the 2.5" and late 63's did not use the heat shields. However, the judging manual does not have any differentiation. Also, according to the AIM, they belong there if I'm reading it right.

Paragon lists a repro for $130. Any other suggestions where to get one (LIC?).

joe: center hanger, unique to 63's, was present on 2" and 2 1/2" pipes. Got one from LI years ago. All 63's had heatshields. mike

Joe, there are usually some available at the meets. They were being sold for $100 at the Florida meet last January. If you know anyone going have them look for you. LIC does have them. They are on Ebay for $125 from Virginia Vette. These were all repro's. I have seen originals on Ebay for less, the reason is the rubber may be worn or charred.

My 63 convertible was missing the center hanger. The result was a loud bang every time I hit a bump. I got the hanger and the heat sheilds from Long Island Corvette.

Keep in mind the rear hangers for a '63 are unique also.

The new rear hanger design was part of the "NVH redesign" that went into production for the '64 model year.

Was just checking on Paragon's site and interestingly they have the following description that says the heat shields were only used up to 7/2/63. My car was built on or about July 17th (Date:K3 Vin#19761)

Wonder where they got this from?
