I mounted the body while supporting the frame under the door areas. I attached the radiator, support and shroud. Even with 4 or 5 shims under the support, the clearance between the shroud and fan was very close. I read in the archives that because of frame flex the way I was supporting the frame, fan clearance would be reduced. I removed the support and lowered the car onto the wheels hoping the clearance would improve. I again mounted the support and now with no shims it is too high to line up with the inner fender holes. What is the proper way to support the car when mounting the body and particularly the radiator support. (It appears in the pics I've seen that the car is not supported by its' suspension when the body is mounted)

Re: 67 BODY MOUNTING
Rob, With the same basic car my 67 body was mounted on a rolling chassis with the original number of shims on the front frame horns for the radiator support. The support, radiator and fan shroud were mounted on the body prior to the drop. Did you do extensive body work on the front end or frame during the restoration that would cause a different alignment?- Top

Re: 67 BODY MOUNTING
No body work was done. Now that the car is sitting on its' wheels, I'll lift the body slightly off the mounts and shim it again. I think the front of the frame was flexed downward from the weight of the engine when I mounted the body because of where I was supporting the frame. The core support alignment sure changed when I lowered it onto the wheels. The doors fit exactly like they did before.- Top
